Belarusian-language Edition of the Bible Donated by the Belarusian Embassy to the Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC

On December 5, 2022 Pavel Shidlovsky, Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Belarus in the U.S., donated the Belarusian-language edition of the Holy Scripture to the Museum of the Bible.

The Scripture was translated into Belarusian by Priest Vladislav Chernyavsky and published by the Bible Society in Minsk in 2017 to mark the 500th anniversary of the first book by Francysk Skaryna – the printed Bible in the Belarusian izvod of the Church Slavonic language.

The publication was purchased by Bishop Leonid Mikhovich, Chairman of the Union of Evangelical Christian Baptists of Belarus.

According to the Museum staff, it has now Bibles in more than 600 languages of the world.

The Museum of the Bible opened five years ago. There are more than 40,000 objects and artifacts on six floors.
