On the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Visas between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation
06.04.2023In connection with inquiries received by the Embassy of Belarus in the United States regarding mutual recognition of visas between Belarus and Russia under the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation on Mutual Recognition of Visas and Other Issues Related to the Entry of Foreign Nationals and Stateless Persons into Territories of the States Parties of the Union State (hereinafter, the Agreement), we convey the following.
Currently, the parties are carrying out internal procedures on the Agreement, the completion of which is expected by the beginning of 2024.
Thus, as of today, the Agreement does not work and foreign nationals, who intend to visit both the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, must still apply in advance to the consular offices of both states for separate (Belarusian and Russian) visas.
After the entry into force of the Agreement, foreign nationals will be able to enter, exit, stay, transit through the territory of Belarus and Russia on the basis of a visa of one of the two countries and identification documents.
As the Agreement enters into force, additional information will be posted on the Embassy website.
