Embassy Participates in the Geneva Consensus Declaration Event

Chargé Pavel Shidlovsky joined with pleasure a fine group of like-minded people for the Sixth Annual Commemoration of the Geneva Consensus Declaration (GCD). The day of September 15 belonged to the nations of the Coalition, especially its newest members – Argentina, the Dominican Republic, and Mauritania – whose accession brings the Coalition to 43 nations.

Together, member nations with one voice reaffirmed a shared vision: better health for women, the protection of life, strong families, and the right of sovereign nations to shape policies that reflect these convictions.

U.S. Members of Congress who came and voiced their support for the GCD were Rep. Robert Aderholt, Rep. Mary Miller, Rep. Chris Smith, Sen. James Lankford, and Sen. Steve Daines.

President Donald Trump sent a letter to the participants where he expressed his strong support for the GCD, commended the work of The Institute for Women's Health to strengthen the coalition, and affirmed that the United States will carry GCD principles forward together with the Coalition’s member nations.

The Charge discussed with the Institute's leadership future engagement with Belarus, including through the signing of MOU with the Belarusian Union of Women.
