Trade and economic cooperation
Belarus and the United States have made consistent efforts aimed to develop bilateral relations, increase engagement in trade and economic area.
The U.S. sanctions against the “Belneftekhim” and its entities were suspended in October 2019 for 18 months.
In May 2020, the beginning of delivery of oil from the U.S. to Belarus was announced.
Cooperation with the U.S. in the oil sector is part of efforts to ensure energy security of Belarus. The United States is among ten Belarus' largest trade partners. Belarusian export of goods to the United States in 2020 amounted to $199.2 million. Main exports included potash and nitrogen fertilizers, metal products, X-ray machines, furniture, flax fabric, lazers.
In 2020, export of services to the U.S. made up $1.1 billion.
