Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus O.Kravchenko visits Washington


On November 21-22, 2019 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Oleg Kravchenko, paid a visit to Washington, DC.

On November 21 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs took part in the analytical conference “The West and Belarus: A Mutual Rediscovery”, organized at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace with support of the Jamestown Foundation. The main topics of the discussion were Belarusian-American and Belarusian-European relations, political situation in Belarus and in the region.

The central element of the event was Keynote Panel “U.S.-Belarusian Relations and Rapprochement” with panelists including Oleg Kravchenko, the Deputy Assistant of the U.S. Secretary of State, George Kent, Program Chair in the Center for European Policy Analysis, retired Commander of U.S. Army Europe, Benjamin Hodges. The Panel was moderated by the President of the Jamestown Foundation, Glen Howard.   

The conference was attended by representatives of the U.S. Department of State and the Department of Defense, several leading U.S. think tanks, media and non-governmental organizations, embassies of foreign countries in Washington.

On November 22 the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus participated in a roundtable with American business circles organized with support of the American-Central European Business Association (ACEBA).

Oleg Kravchenko also met with the Deputy Senior Director for European Affairs at the U.S. National Security Council, John Erath, and the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative, Dawn Shackleford.
