On the Fourth Annual International Day of Friendship

On 6 August 2017, the Fourth Annual International Day of Friendship was held in Brooklyn, New York. For the first time Belarus took part in the event among more than 100 hundred states.

Musical trio from Belarus Bycity was chosen by Brooklyn Art Council to represent Europe in the course of the event.

New Yorkers warmly welcomed three songs by Bycity in Belarusian: “Tsiache Vada W Yiarok”, “Zazvineli Zvoniki”, “Na Pasashok”.

Consulate General of Belarus in New York and representatives of the Belarusian diaspora took active part in organization of the International village, where every passing by could taste delicious product from Belarus such as candies produced by Belarusian confectionary fabrics Kommunarka, and Spartak, biscuits produced by Slodych, marshmallows by Krasny Pishchevik, and Belarusian honey.

In Belarusian “khata” (house) all Belarusians were dressed in national costumes, one could observe there a lot of souvenirs made of traditional Belarusian construction material straw.
Catalogues “One Hundred Things To Do In Belarus” and “Discover Your Belarus” published with participation of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus were in great demand among visitors of the Belarusian corner.

TV promo documentaries about touristic attractions in Belarus substantially added to diversity and modern look of the Belarusian kiosk. They were played nonstop during the event on a large TV plasma screen.
Together with representatives of all 193 UN member-states Belarusian representatives took part in the parade of flags along Brooklyn avenues. Belarus flag was carried by the Head of the Belarusian community of Brooklyn, veteran of the Great Patriotic War Savelij Kaplinsky.

In the end, the participants performed together on the scene the song “We Are The World”.
